Happy Day after Sunday!!! I hope you had a great weekend, I know I tried. So today I'm writing about something that was placed in my heart on my drive home this week. I have had a lot of conversations in my head with other people, that really need to be had with those people. BUT my fear of conflict and confrontation has stifled me for the majority of my life and a lot of things never get said, unfortunately. Well that stops...now.
The Story
Let's say you have a friend who has all the faith in God that anyone needs, probably enough for a whole nation. I mean, 100% trusts in God so much and KNOWs God is going to bring their dreams to fruition and they are going to change the world. And I believe it. I don't doubt that at all.
But there's a problem
They haven't made the necessary steps to get to where they want to go.
Meaning child doesn't want to do the work it takes to make anything happen. So when you approach other people, me included, to help you and we're finding all of these opportunities for you - dropping ideas and giving tools that anyone could use, it's cool and necessary sometimes. BUT THEN you want me to implement those tools for you, but then you get low-key upset if it's not your vision. *deep sigh*
Another problem, when you are waiting for perfection. When you don't want to put ANYTHING out there until anything and everything is professional and expert looking. Okay, so...you don't want to look lame or stupid and you want everything to look professional like the people out there that have been at it for a long time. But...everyone started from somewhere!
It made me think of all the times I've heard and said, "I can't because…"
"I can't because I don't have enough money."
"I can't because I don't have the equipment."
"I can't because I don't have the knowledge."
I can't…I can't...I can't.
BUT I know that God's going to work it out for me, though! *side eye*
My message to them, myself, and YOU (if you have believed any of this before)
Faith doesn't work without W-O-R-K!
1| Put that money madness to the side!
Money should never be an excuse. If you have INTERNET, not only can you SAVE money, but you can make money. There are soooo many free resources available on the internet, it's not even funny. It's too real out there.
2| Set yourself up!
You can't wait for someone to set you up for perfection. You have to set yourself up! Nobody can do it for you. And nobody has the time, really. Anybody who has ALL the time in the world to make your dreams happen for YOU (aside from family) may have no dreams of their own. I'm just sayin'.
3| Take one step
You can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. YES!!! You trust God will make the desires of your heart happen for you, but you have to take a step. You're not going to get to where you want to go, standing in the same place. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
My Logic comes from
So a couple of verses came into my head as I was thinking about this. I'm not a bible scholar but verses do stand out to me from time to time.
2 Corinthians 6:7
"We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense"
When I read this, I also thought of how we are told to wear our Armor of God in Ephesians 6:16-17
"….hold up the SHIELD OF FAITH to stop the fiery arrows of the devil…and take the SWORD of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
FAITH is your defense. That shield of Faith is going to do its job, whether you move it or not. It's going to protect you from whatever the opposing side wants to throw or shoot at you. It's going to keep you FOCUSED and help you block some of that doubt.
The SWORD, that word, is the weapon. If you don't MOVE it, it won't do anything to or for anybody. What is the point of knowing the word if you don't share it with anybody? What is the point of having a weapon, if you don't use it? You have to MOVE the sword in order to attack. The keyword there is MOVE. God isn't always going to move it for you. He is able, but he also made you able. He gave you ability to take a step toward His Will for you.
"What if the path I decide to take is not the EXACT path God wants me to be on?" That's a valid concern. But how would you know until you take a step? God may not tell you how and when to take every single step, let's be real. But maybe He wants you to trust Him. You have to walk in your faith. If your FAITH in Him is as strong as your fear to move, you should KNOW that if you go too far left, He's gonna yank you right back and steer you in the right direction.
There is no better promise than that! No matter how you START IT, He will make sure that you FINISH it correctly. Stop waiting for magic and validation. Start walking toward your purpose and God will do the rest. We all have fears and doubts, but we can't sit and wait for God to drop every opportunity into our lap. Most times the blessing is in knowing that God was able to work for you because you trusted Him and worked in your Faith.
Now it's your turn. Leave a comment below and tell me how you plan on, or how you have already began, WORKING in your FAITH!
